The idea for this frame began after returning from a trip to Vancouver Island and the Sunshine Coast. The bike I took on that one had 27.5″x 2.35″ slick tires but did not have S&S couplers, making it difficult to transport by plane. I realized then that I’d like to do more travelling with my bike but fitting my gigantic frame into an appropriate box wouldn’t do. I took the opportunity to build a bike with S&S couplers and based around a larger diameter as well. The larger tires make the bike more visually appealing. I also decided to experiment with fairly lightweight tubing, risky given my 240lbs size but, it rides and “planes” beautifully.
The powdercoat was picked on a whim and I’m so glad I did. The textured finish gives it a wet look and adds to the overall aesthetic – like a paint job should!
